GPS will be an honored guest at the inaugural WTCI "Be More Awards Luncheon” on March 3 as Chattanooga area non-profits are recognized for "excellence in the community.” When the local PBS affiliate announced the finalists for their inaugural Be More Awards on January 22, the GPS HARVEST program was named one of four finalists in the "Be More…Creative” category.
In addition, HARVEST was named a finalist in the "Be More…Engaging” People’s Choice category. The winner in this category will be determined by popular vote. Voters may vote only once, so participation is encouraged. If you’d like to vote for the GPS HARVEST program, log on to the WTCI website.
Partnering with Allied Arts and United Way’s Center for Nonprofits, WTCI is committed to encouraging people to "be more” and realize their potential. The "Be More...Creative” innovation award, one of six, honors GPS and three other organizations for their "imaginative and creative use of original ideas to achieve organizational goals.” At GPS, the HARVEST program coordinates and concentrates all community service initiatives into an every Wednesday morning event that students, faculty, and parents have generously supported.
The People’s Choice award, for which GPS is one of 11 finalists, will recognize the local organization that is most connected to the community and the people it serves. The luncheon will feature keynote speaker and noted television news anchor and journalist Judy Woodruff.
"As always, GPS is proud of the girls’ service efforts and readily acknowledges that the HARVEST program could not be what it is without the entire GPS community’s participation,” said GPS Headmaster Randy Tucker.
