GPS Makes an IMPACT

A new comprehensive, multi-year program designed to touch every girl’s life every year she’s a student at Girls Preparatory School had a formal kickoff on Friday, Jan. 9. Several aspects of the new program, named “Impact,” were introduced to the student body during the first semester, but the formal introduction featured the two alumnae who were instrumental in the program’s design, Lorie Mallchok ‘81 and Lizzer Graham ‘77, and over a dozen alumnae who participated in panel discussions on the program’s four major components: Choices, Horizons, Service, and Life Skills. Dean of Faculty Jessica Good says the program responds deliberately to questions such as the following: What should we know about ourselves? What should we know about each other? And What should we know about our world?

Prior to the student body’s attendance at the panel discussions, senior Robin Hood chair Natalie Berg presented a check to Maxine Bailey of the new Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. The annual GPS fundraiser last fall collected funds for the new charter girls’ school, and the fundraiser is now a part of the Service component of “Impact.”

Alumnae on campus to discuss the choices they’ve made, the horizons they’ve explored, the service they’ve given, and the life skills they’ve learned were Brooke Good Stephens ’92, Mary Cady Ford ’01, Katie Cosgrove ’02, Laura Deakins, Allyson Heard, and Taylor Warren from the class of 2004; Anne Campeau, Emily Dake, and Stacy Farrar from the class of 2005; Marshall Bright, Ginny Henry, and Allison Rhodes from the class of 2007; and Claire Bartlett, Catherine Fields, Kristina Kyle, Sally Morrow, and Hannah Shadrick from the class of 2008.
