A seven-day drive in the GPS Middle School to collect canned vegetables and staples for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank yielded over 1,000 pounds of food for the 24th annual Share Your Christmas food drive sponsored by WRCB, Channel 3. The Middle School student body brought food to fill up boxes in advisors’ classrooms starting on the day after the Thanksgiving Break. By the time the Community Service representatives met early in the morning on Wednesday, Dec. 10, enough food had been collected to fill a 12-passenger GPS mini-bus.
Volunteer student participants ate bag lunches on the way to the First Tennessee Pavilion, the staging area for the food drive and then helped unload the pallets of food items. Afterward, they were featured on Channel 3’s noon show along with Community Service Director Weesie Cook.
